Curacao

A Vacation Off the “Caribbean Path”

Looking at a map of the Caribbean, you will notice this nice little “flow” of islands, like a little trail leading from the tip of Florida down to South America.  It is almost like a “connect the dots” puzzle from your childhood.

That is except for a few islands… Curacao is one of them.

Located just 40 miles north of the coast of Venezuela, Curacao sits well to the west, and apart from the rest of the Caribbean “chain” of islands.  It is its very isolation, however, that offers Curacao a slightly different vacation or all-inclusive honeymoon destination.

The Caribbean Goldilocks

One of the greatest conveniences of planning a vacation to Curacao is that there is really no need to weigh the time of year, or certain seasons over others.  Why?… because they are pretty much all the same! Which makes Curacao just right.

The coolest month in Curacao is January, with an average high and low of 86F and 76F.  The warmest month of the year is September, with an average high and low of 91F and 80F.  So, this means, in theory, that you could pick ANY day of the year and, on average, you sitting right between 76F and 91F… FOR THE WHOLE YEAR!

Just when you thought your Caribbean vacation planning couldn’t get any easier in the weather department, there are the trade winds, which naturally cool the island during the day, and warm it back up at night.

While on the subject of wind… remember how we mentioned that Curacao was a bit off the Caribbean’s beaten path of islands?  Well, that also means that it is off the beaten path of hurricanes.  In fact, no hurricane has made landfall since tracking by the US National Hurricane Center began.

Curacao’s climate is so vacation and honeymoon friendly that even during its rainiest month (November), it averages less than 5 inches of rain and still with an average of 234 hours of sunshine or about 20 days!

Caribbean Character & Culture

Queen Emma Bridge – If you do end up spending any, undoubtedly beautiful, time in Curacao, you must check out the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge.  It is a pedestrian bridge 550 feet long, floating on giant pontoons, and can actually be moved by two enormous engines to allow for the passage of liner ships into the bay.

Klein Curacao- You should also plan a day excursion over Curacao’s sister island, Klein Curacao.  It is an uninhabited island but equipped with a little community of thatch huts for the exact experience for people to boat over and spend the day on a secluded island.  It can be an excellent option for honeymoons in search of so mild desolation and privacy.

Punda- And, of course, no Curacao vacation would be complete without a trip to the neighborhood of Punda, where you will find all the color, character, charisma, and charm your Caribbean vacation can handle.  Vibrant, multi-colored building line the streets that are filled with small shops and restaurants, teeming with local culture and cuisine.

Just Go Already

Relaxation and the joy of the human spirit are everywhere in this Caribbean vacation destination.  So pick a date, or throw a dart at a calendar… either way, you’re in for beautiful weather and good times!
