This is the coast for the nature lovers out there.  This part of the island is known for its rugged, dramatic beauty.  On this coast and accommodations are more the B&B type.  Local excursions include zip lines, ATVs, nature safaris and soft adventure. If you love hiking, walking and exploring though then you’ll definitely want to hire a driver, or rent a car and spend some time here.

The east coast is also known for impressive waves and a world-famous surf spot known as the “Soup Bowl”.  The best time to schedule your surf vacation to Barbados is over the winter months, November to June.

North Coast

Fondly referred to as the “Tip of the Rock” the northern point also offers rugged cliffs with stunning beauty.  The surf and tides in this area are very active and for the most part the north coast is not suitable for swimming.  There are inlets and coves here that allow for fun beach exploration and you’ll definitely want to stop for dramatic natural photo ops.

West Coast

As you head to the west coast, also known as the Platinum Coast, things change dramatically.  The west coast is known for white, sugar sand beaches, calm turquoise water and stunning sunsets.

This area of Barbados is home to luxury resorts and villas, world class golf, shopping, dining.   History buffs will also enjoy several historical sites like St. James Church and Holetown Monument.

South Coast

The southern part of Barbados offers a wealth of activities for visitors.  You’ll have luxury all-inclusive resorts and quaint boutique hotels in this part of Barbados.  The beaches offer long, wide stretches of white powder sand to walk and this area is typically where you’ll find the party in Barbados.

The Caribbean and the Atlantic meet at Barbados’ south coast and the surf is more active here than to its west.  The south coast of Barbados is where you’ll find surfing schools and waves perfect for novice and experienced alike.

The St. Lawrence Gap area located in Christ Church, also referred to as “The Gap” gives visitors the chance to explore nightclubs, dining and entertainment.  Oistins Fish Fry is definitely a must on Fridays if you have the opportunity.  Mingle with locals and other travelers while you enjoy fabulous food, rum and music.
